SDG 4 - Quality Education
The Impact Project
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Adam Patrick Bell – Inclusive Music Education Researcher
Adam’s work on accessible musical instruments and disability-led design helps create more inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in music and learning. By developing adaptive technologies that reduce physical barriers to musical expression and centering the experiences of disabled musicians in the design process, his work promotes greater access to creative and educational opportunities. These efforts directly support SDG 4’s targets on inclusive education, equal access for persons with disabilities, and eliminating discrimination in education.
Nicole Neil – Inclusive Education and STEM Advocate
Nicole’s leadership of the S3 Camp, which integrates children with and without disabilities in STEM learning, supports SDG 4’s goals of inclusive and equitable education, early childhood development, and teacher training.
Marianna Speranza – STEM Equity Advocate and Podcaster
Marianna’s efforts to amplify women’s voices in tech, promote youth engagement, and mentor girls in STEM directly support SDG 4’s targets on gender equality in education and skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Emma Duerden – Neuroscientist and Educator
Emma’s work on child anxiety and brain development, and her collaboration with educators to improve early intervention strategies, aligns with SDG 4’s emphasis on supportive learning environments and educator capacity-building.
Sheri Osden Nault – Two-Spirit Artist and Educator
Sheri’s work as an artist and assistant professor supports inclusive and meaningful learning through creative expression. At Western, they encourage visual arts students to explore new forms of artistic practice while understanding how art can strengthen identity, connection and well-being. By creating a learning environment that values diverse experiences and perspectives, Sheri’s work contributes to more inclusive and equitable education.
Raj Singh – Ethnomusicologist and Cultural Educator
Raj’s research uses music as a way to deepen understanding of Inuit culture, history and lived experiences. By working directly with Inuit hip-hop artists and sharing the stories and perspectives expressed through their music, she helps educate audiences outside the Arctic about Indigenous communities and the impacts of colonialism. Her work supports more inclusive learning by bringing Indigenous voices and cultural knowledge into academic and public conversations.
